I am currently an associate professor at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). I got my bachelor's degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2013. I received my Ph.D. degree in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering from HKUST in 2018, where my Ph.D. advisor is Prof. Qian Zhang. After that, I worked at HKUST as a post-doc for one year. From November 2019 to November 2022, I worked in the Southern University of Science and Technology as a research track faculty. I joined Sun Yat-sen University in December 2022.

Research Interests
Integrated Sensing and Communication: Radio signals, traditionally used for data communication, are now emerging as sensing media. Researchers have demonstrated the great potential of RF sensing, including understanding gesture commands and monitoring vital signs. However, sensing and communication are contradictory purposes. For the sensing purpose, we use a known sequence to probe unknown channel conditions, while for the communication purpose, we decode unknown messages assuming that the channel conditions are known. We address the challenges encountered when integrating sensing and communication functions and thus they can work in harmony. Accordingly, we build up prototypes to test the performance of our design. Related papers include [TMC'22], [IMWUT'22].
Intelligent Sensing: We investigate how to fully exploit RF signals (Wi-Fi, mmWave, Ultra-wideband), acoustic signals, and visible/invisible light signals to achieve intelligent sensing. We are interested in gesture recognition, motion tracking, food intake logging, and vital sign monitoring, so that we can enable convenient human-computer interactions, location-based services, and long-term health management. We are working toward the vision of smart homes and smart healthcare. We have built several sensing prototypes for various purposes. Related papers include [MobiCom'21a],[MobiCom'21b], [Percom'21],[INFOCOM'19],[INFOCOM'18],[INFOCOM'16].
Security in the era of IoT: Various intelligent devices are connected by wireless links. As wireless signals are broadcast signals, they can be easily eavesdropped by malicious guys. Besides, the miniaturized design paradigm also leave loopholes in the devices. We focus on studying the security issues in IoT devices/IoT networks, and propose corresponding coutermeasures. In addition to the inherent design deficiency, we also investigate the vulnerability in signal processing flows. Related papers include [TOSN'22], [AAAI'20], [IMWUT'18], [MobiCom'17].
